This place is great! I had never been, and I grew up in Des Moines. It‘s somewhere that you‘d never see it unless you knew where it was, or you follow the signs on 42nd street. If you have even the slightest interest in art, architecture or historical artifacts you HAVE to check out this Des Moines gem. By far the better historical house in the state because of the historical artifacts collection. They have rare books, paintings, 14th century furniture worth well into the millions!! I was stunned. I thought it was just a house some guy built in the 20‘s and what‘s the big deal? Well it turns out he collected things from around the world, historical things. Much of the house was built with materials brought over from England and date back to the 14th, 15th and 16th century. The oldest thing in the house is a pot from 1500 BC, that‘s about 100 years before Moses was supposed to have received the 10 commandments! I love history so I was in heaven. It‘s pretty cheap when you think about all the rare stuff you‘ll see. I‘d gladly pay another $7 to see it again.
