I have lived in Indianola for 35 years and always shopped in town or Southridge Mall--it nearly brings me to tears now to see how it has declined. I just keep hoping and praying that it will "rise from the ashes", somehow, someway, so that those of us who live nearby will have somewhere to shop--as well as providing jobs for people. It is as though no one matters except those who can afford to live in West Des Moines.

I love shopping at Southridge. It‘s just the size of shopping mall I like. Not crazy packed and commercially fake. It has most everything I need. I would love to see some expansion and see more support from the southside community, but they need to get the newness of Jordan Creek out of their system. If there‘s something I need from a store at Jordan Creek, I can buy it on line...but, that hasn‘t been the case to date. So I can just run to Southridge and get what I need in a close and convenient environment. To the person below that wrote about about the "punks and gangs" - I‘ve never seen that in the 18 years I‘ve been shopping at Southridge. I see kids hanging out like I do at ANY mall, but nothing like the comments in that review!! By-the-way, fake handbags are sold at ALL the malls - even Jordan Creek... (right by their food court). Open your eyes, and come enjoy Southridge for a nice comfortable shopping experience.

Southridge mall used to be a great mall...25 years ago! Today it is really struggling, Steve & Barry‘s, Shoe Carnival, and soon Waldenbooks will all be closed...not to many retail chain stores left in the mall. Target, Sears, JC Penney and Younkers are all nice to have on the southside, but not sure for how much longer they will stay.

Terrible mall, terrible stores, terrible management. This is a gang hangout which on Friday nights you will see hundreds of punks and never fails a fight will break out I don‘t let my kids anywhere near this dump. They have Churches, Doctor‘s office, dance studio, softball practice, a Filipino grocery store a total joke, they let a store NYUT sell fake handbags which is against the law, they let mall employees smoke inside hallways it is actually laughable, only a few retail stores are left.

This mall has fallen in the past few years. There is not a whole lot left in there and the variety is slim. Southridge Mall cannot compete with the other malls in the area anymore.
