Val Lanes was established in 1957 by the Essy family.
What was once a 24 lane bowling center, Val Lanes then added 12 more lanes in 1959 to provide hours of entertainment to the West Des Moines community.
Patrick & Rose Essy purchased Val Lanes in 1990 and change the name to Val Lanes Recreation Center. A center to provide entertainment for people of ALL ages.
Changes are always happening at Val Lanes. 2002 remodeling included a new video game room, concourse, carpet, seating and bowling areas. 2003 brought us new state-of-the-art AUTOMATIC SCORING and AUTOMATED BUMPERS, and in 2004, we installed new ball returns on the approach and on the pinsetters. Always improving and reinvesting in our business to keep you coming back for more!
